چکیده

knowledge of the relationship between two phenomena (inflation and unemployment) is crucial to any economic and political decision-making process. an investigation of this relationship helps economists and policy-makers to be aware of the economy’s performance. in the present research, new-keynesians’ philips hybrid curve has been derived by using the pricing models and the assumption of price and wage rigidity. fridman- phelps philips curve and new-keynesian philips curve are special types of new-keynesian hybrid philips curves. the model used for rigidity of prices and wages in this article is pricing model of calov. then, we have estimated this curve for iranian economy for the time 1975-2007 by using gmm method. the results indicate that the firms have both backward and forward looking considerations in setting their prices. jel classification: e24، e31

Identifying the New Keynesian Phillips Curve

Phillips curves are central to discussions of inflation dynamics and monetary policy. New Keynesian Phillips curves describe how past inflation, expected future inflation, and a measure of real marginal cost or an output gap drive the current inflation rate. This paper studies the (potential) weak identification of these curves under generalized methods of moments (GMM) and traces this syndrome...

Introduction to the New Keynesian Phillips Curve

I n most industrialized economies inflation tends to be pro-cyclical; that is, inflation is high during times of high economic activity. When economic activity is measured by the unemployment rate this statistical relationship is known as the Phillips curve. The Phillips curve is sometimes viewed as a menu for monetary policymakers, that is, they can choose between high inflation and low unempl...

The New-Keynesian Phillips Curve and Inflation Persistence

The New-Keynesian Phillips curve is usually reported to fit the data better when lagged inflation, and therefore backward-looking price setting, is included in the equation. We argue that the same inflation persistence can be generated by letting the shocks in the economy be highly correlated in a model where price setting is purely forward-looking. Previous estimates in the literature are bias...

Observed Inflation Forecasts and the New Keynesian Phillips Curve

Estimating the micro-founded New Keynesian Phillips Curve using rational inflation expectation proxies has often found that the output gap is not a valid measure of inflation pressure. This paper investigates the empirical success of the NKPC in explaining US inflation, using observed measures of inflation expectations and taking account of serial correlation in the stylized NKPC. Contrary to r...
